The Girdle of Venus is situated above the heart line, forming a complete or fragmented ring below the Saturn and Apollo fingers. This line frequently causes confusion to the inexperienced eye as it can appear in many forms.
Sometimes the Girdle forms a complete ring around the base of the fingers.
Sometimes the Girdle is fragmented so that many small striations appear above the heart line, appearing as horizontal lines crossing the mounts. To add to the confusion the line or lines may be completely straight and not form a semicircle.
The Girdle of Venus does not appear in every hand, but when seen, no matter which form it takes, it acts as a blockage and obstacle to the energy running up the palm, particularly from the Saturn and Apollo lines. As the energy hits the barrier caused by the Girdle, it overflows into the rest of the palm, resulting in higher sensitivity and nervousness. Frequently the Girdle appears in hands which are already of a nervous or delicate types where the lines are already many in number and delicate in appearance. Acting as a sister line to the heart line, it is concerned with the emotions and affections. Obviously when nervousness and heightened sensitivity are added to heart felt emotion the person becomes highly strung and over sensitive to such an extent that every casual remark or criticism is taken to heart. Imagined slights affect the individual deeply causing depression, suffering and brooding. Thus a vicious circle is set up where every emotion is distorted and twisted and every sadness magnified.
When the Girdle is extremely fragmented and broken, these feelings are intensified so that the person may attempt to escape such overwhelming emotions and nervousness. In his confused state, searching for the nearest escape route, he may latch onto alcohol or drugs to ease his suffering.
The Girdle of Venus found in an already delicately marked hand creates nervous excitability and intensified emotions. When the Girdle is extremely broken and fragmented so that many horizontal lines cross the top of the palm below the Saturn and Apollo fingers, the delicate nature suffers to a great extent. This person can become a sufferer of nervous depression and ill health and is often unhappy and discontent with life. Unfortunately people with this formation often need some kind of help or counselling in order to overcome their highly over sensitive emotions, particularly if they are not to succumb to the escapism found in drugs. Many years ago, traditional palmistry associated the Girdle of Venus with sex, lust and general debauchery. In those days, love was a free licence to sex and so any line relating to love and the emotions automatically implicated the act of sexual relations. Of course, attitudes have changed considerably since then and palmists no longer associate debauchery with the Girdle of Venus. Many palmists, having read the traditional interpretation of the Girdle and then, seeing it in the palm and perhaps a little unsure of it's implication, have implied to their clients that they may be lustful and over sexed! This interpretation is rather inaccurate, although the Girdle is in fact still thought to have some connection with heightened sexual feelings. What the Girdle does indicate is that the person has a heightened awareness of feelings, emotions and sensitivity and that obviously includes sexual relations. But it is important to remember to always look for other signs in the hand for similar implications. For instance, if the Girdle features in a hand which features a pale, undeveloped Venus mount with a life line hugging the mount closely, it is highly unlikely that the Girdle will refer to the physical aspect of sex. Such a a person will not have a high sex drive ensuring that sex is not too high on their list of priorities! However, if the Girdle features in a hand which has other features of a high sex drive, such as high colour with prominent Venus or Mars mounts, the chances of the Girdle relating to heightened sexual relations and awareness is high.
Nowhere in the hand is it more important to relate the line to the personality rather than trying to relate the personality to the line!

One of the most frequently asked questions is for the signs of marriage. When looking into your own hands, remember that palmists look for many signs within the hands, gradually building up clues about the person and his life. A palmist will never, ever, make a statement by looking at one sign standing alone. It is also important to remember that marriage is a contract made on paper and as such, is not recognised by the hands! The signs in the palm reveal relationships with other people, they may be partners, or they may just be other people playing a large part in your life, making an impact on you. These lines are traditionally known as the marriage lines or the lines of union or affection and are found situated between the base of the little finger, coming in from the outside (percussive edge) of your palm and your heart line, which is the main line running across the top of your palm. Many hand analysts now ignore these lines, no longer believing their accuracy. However, traditionally, these small lines, entering your palm reveal relationships which have or will impress themselves in your life. This area can be dated, year one from the heart line, and end of life at the crease of the little finger. The stronger the line, the stronger the relationship. It is possible to approximately date these relationships . The centre of this area would represent the age 37, any lines appearing below the centre would be relationships appearing before this age, and any lines appearing above this mid centre represent relationships appearing after the age of 37. However, remember that the hands do not reveal marriages but rather those who have come into your life for whom you have acquired great affection. An unmarried woman with a much loved pet may have a similar marking!! A branch coming down from the life line, into the Venus mount area, indicates an important person in your life. When a long branch forms inside the life line, (on the thumb side) a relationship is revealed. The longer the line, the longer that person stays in your life, and can be considered to provide back up and support for you for at least the length of time the line remains. Other vertical lines may appear on the ball of the thumb (Venus Mount) Some people have many while others have very few. They may not necessarily branch away from the life line itself. The closer the influence line appears to the life line, the closer the relationship. Therefore if a line runs very closely to the life line, it indicates a relationship such as a close partner. Any lines appearing further away from the life line may represent close ties with parents, grandparents, etc. These influence lines can be dated by applying a timing gauge to the life line itself. If you take a piece of string and lay it along the life line, from it's start above the thumb, to the top line (bracelet) at the wrist, this length will equal approximately 70 years or so of life. Measure this far down, even if your life line does not reach this point. By halving the string and laying it back over the life line, you will find the age 35, near the mid point. The life line is timed from 0 years at its beginning above the thumb, and 75 or so where it meets the top bracelet at the wrist. In this way, you can gauge at what age these branch lines, or individual influence lines appear in your life. The fate or Saturn line runs up the palm towards the middle finger. It can start anywhere in the palm, coming in from the thumb side of the palm, or the percussive (outside) edge of the palm. Occasionally you might see a branch line coming in from the outside edge of the palm, to actually join up with this fate line. If the line actually joins and continues as one with the fate line, then a relationship is revealed. The fate line, from the top bracelet at the wrist to the bottom crease of the middle finger is approximately 75 years. About halfway up the palm, can be considered to be around 35 to 40 years. Sometimes a branch line runs up towards the fate line, but does not quite meet and join with the fate line. This relationship will not last the course. Occasionally the original fate line stops with a new fate line sweeping in from the outside edge of the palm to take over as the main line. This in fact can have several meanings but sometimes represents a partner becoming more and more important in the life of the subject until the relationship completely takes over the original direction.

The attachment lines enter the palm from the percussive edge of the palm, between the heart line and the crease at the base of the little finger. They are also referred to as marriage lines and lines of union. Some people have only one strong line, while others may have several fine lines.
The heart line is concerned with the emotions, feelings and the physical heart. The attachment lines can be seen as small heart lines, each line representing a 'focus' of emotional energy which is either sent out to others, or felt within. The love which we send out is not always directed towards 'love' relationships - partners, wives/husbands, but can encompass anything which we feel a strong bond of love towards. This love could be directed towards a pet, a child, a friend; one of these lines could even represent a love of God. So if you are in your first relationship and see several of these lines in your own or your partner's hands, don't immediately jump to the conclusion that your relationship is not going to last, or that your partner is going to find someone else later on!
Unfortunately there are palmists who will attempt to determine how many relationships you will have, reading each of these lines as an individual relationship with a boyfriend/girlfriend/partner/wife/husband. This is just not accurate - and can create unnecessary worry! These lines can be found in the hands of those who have never been married, or been involved in a serious relationship. It is possible to feel a special bond with someone or something without being involved in a partner relationship! The hands reveal the energy we ourselves feel or send out into the world, rather than specifics of events and life situations.
Some people have only one strong attachment line, and many palmists believe this represents a person who has the tendency to feel only one strong bond with another throughout life. This implies a certain loyalty, strength and depth of feeling, a life commitment to another, or possibly even a soul mate.
Many, many people have two or three attachment lines. Although just occasionally each line may well represent a serious partnership or marriage, many times there will still only be one main relationship in the person's life, but some other important bonds in relationships with others. When two or three lines appear, one may appear stronger than the others. Here the implication is that the person has a couple of relationships which have made an impact on their life, but with one particularly strong bond being formed at some point in their life. In general, the strongest attachment line hints at a particularly strong bond, with the weaker lines indicating more superficial relationships.
Some people have lots of fine attachment lines. It is important to look at the rest of the lines in the palms, as those with lots of fine tiny lines throughout the palm may well have lots of these fine attachment lines. This person is a sensitive soul, affected greatly in his/her relationships with others. Here the numerous lines imply that the person's sensitivity causes lots of emotion and feeling, creating many bonds of love with others. They may become involved in many superficial relationships, or move through relationships until they find Mr or Mrs Right. Again, a stronger line may imply a particularly important life relationship in the person's life.
It is a mistake to refer to these lines as marriage lines, as the hands do not represent life situations and events. The lines in the palms represent the person's individual ENERGY. Marriage is a life situation, a contract on paper and as such, is not recognised by the body's energy flow.
It is generally believed that problems occur within a specific relationship when an attachment line reveals a defect. A palmist will always look at the quality of a particular line to ascertain the person's well being. A strongly formed line reveals a healthy energy flow. Should the line become defective, broken or poorly formed, the palmist will suspect that all is not well. If an attachment line breaks or forms an island, the implication is that the energy flowing through the line is halted, revealing some unhappiness in the expression of the person's energy.
Sometimes an attachment line may split into two sections at it's end. Here it is believed to indicate a feeling of separation within the relationship, with the relationship continuing but with each partner going in different directions, or each leading separate lives.
Often an attachment line will turn down at it's end to merge into the heart line. This implies some sadness in the energy flow, and is often seen in the hands of those who have suffered a broken relationship. Sometimes this attachment line continues down the palm, fragmenting as it moves across the palm, to eventually cross over the life line.
For this feature to imply a broken relationship, it is important to note the fragmentation of the line, as a well formed influence line can indicate a particularly special, happy and fulfilling relationship!

This is a line which circles the base of the Jupiter finger and is found in the hands of those who possess the wisdom of Solomon, psychological insight and also possible psychic awareness. Some traditional palmists believe this feature signifies royal ancestry.
The Ring of Solomon may also appear as oblique lines running across the Jupiter mount revealing an empathic and sympathetic nature. The person with this marking will have a warmth and understanding of others, a high degree of perception as to what makes others tick and an ability to put himself in another persons shoes.

So if you are asking whether travel is likely in your life, then the chances are that you are already the type of person who is keen to expand your vision and broaden your horizon past what you can already see. Your hands may reveal this and can be seen by looking at your life line, in either hand. A widely sweeping life line covering one third of the palm and circling a good Venus mount development will reveal that you are prepared to seek out new experiences and broaden your vision, with a desire to get out of life what you can. Circling around the thumb, seen in the diagram to the left, reveals that although you are keen to make what you can of every experience which presents itself, you are likely to remain attached to your roots.
Perhaps you have a life line that, instead of ending by curling back towards the thumb, extends outwards to end either on the Neptune mount (centre base of palm) or reaches out further than this, heading across to the Luna mount on the other side of the palm. The more the life line reaches out across your palm, the greater your desire for movement, with an ever decreasing attachment to your home and roots.
Sometimes though, the life line will sweep out across the palm forming a broad arc, curl back to end below the thumb, but will have branches reaching out towards the Luna mount. Here the person will always remain attached to his roots, but will have an urge to expand outwards, perhaps making several important journeys, or taking memorable holidays. When a particularly strong branch is seen, this can indicate a particularly important journey, and sometimes possible emigration. You may have any one or more of these branches in your palm.
These small branches do not always indicate journeys, but more a desire to escape from particular people or situations.
Sometimes a long influence line may cross the Venus mount and cross over the life line in the direction of the passive Mars mount. This hints at a person creating an influence which may eventually result in some kind of movement, or possible emigration. It is important not to confuse this with an influence line that heads towards the heart line or an attachment line. So, if you have any of these signs in your hands, are you likely to travel? Well, it could be up to you…...are you prepared to make it happen? Appearing in your passive hand, these signs are possibilities, options available for you to take, a desire within yourself. If you are the type who can make things happen, you are likely to see these signs in your active hand. But remember that your hands are a living reflection of you…...you are not a victim of circumstance…..you control the lines in your palms, they don't control you. If you have the desire and the drive to make something happen, and the option is there for you to take an opportunity, then you will take it.
As life unfolds, we take different roads and new opportunities arise, sometimes opportunities which we would never have believed could take place. The lines in your hands change as you change and as life unfolds for you.

The line running from the base of the palm up towards the Saturn (middle) finger has been named the Saturn line, the line of fate or the line of Destiny. Whichever name is used, it will always be found in the middle of the palm pointing in the direction of Saturn. The fate line may start in the middle of the palmar base, from Luna or Venus or may even start higher up the palm. As long as it runs in the direction of Saturn it is always known as the fate line. Sometimes there may be two fate lines running parallel in the palm.
The fate line can be seen to run up the middle of the palm with energy flowing up towards the fingers. This middle position of the fate line effectively separates the palm into two distinct sections, drawing energy from both the conscious (radial side of the palm) and the subconscious (ulna side of the palm). The fate line balances up these two areas bringing the qualities together to create a path or direction in life. Naming this line the line of destiny implies that fate is already decided, that there are no choices and that decisions are already made. Do we have no choice over our future, our direction, the path that we carve for ourselves in order to reach our aspirations and goals?
What palmists do know is that a strong fate line reveals a determination to succeed in finding a definite purpose and reason to exist as well as a determination to find stability and security.
Commencing from a variety of positions at the base of the palm, the line runs up the palm, towards the middle (Saturn) finger.
Sometimes the fate line begins from the centre of the base of the palm. This reveals an independent start in life, a person who has his or her own views of the direction they would like their life to take.
A fate line originating from the Luna mount hints that the person may be influenced by a dream or vision he has always had. Occasionally it can hint of the influence of another person, perhaps a teacher, friend or partner, who may inspire this person to take a particular life path. Sometimes this position can indicate a person whose life centres around the public in some way, or Who spends a great deal of time in the public eye.
When the fate line touches the life line as it begins its course up the palm, the implication is that the family play quite a large part in influencing the subjects life path. This may be taking up a career that has remained a family tradition, or of having some kind of step up from the family or a particular family member. It can also sometimes hint at some kind of restriction as a result of family circumstances, especially if the fate line begins in a central position in the palm, only to veer across to touch the life line as it moves up the palm.

Also named the healing/medical stigmata. In some hands, there may be found three vertical lines, occasionally crossed by one horizontal line, on the Mercury mount below the mercury finger. Inner personal expression is enhanced by the appearance of these three lines. This marking reveals a person who is drawn to helping others in some way. He has a natural empathy for people and the ability to put others at their ease. Nurses, counsellors, therapists, and natural healers are just some of the careers which attract these people. The calm and compassionate nature of the person with this marking ensures that anyone who feels in need of a bit of tender loving care will benefit greatly just by the presence of this most caring and thoughtful person.

The Apollo line, also named the Sun line, may originate from any point in the palm, heading towards the Apollo Mount. This line is not often found in it's true form, ie: Running from the palmar base to the Apollo mount, but is more often found starting higher up the palm, sometimes only appearing on the actual Apollo mount itself. In many hands the line is missing completely.
The Apollo line is traditionally associated with creativity, fulfilment, success, fame and fortune. In fact Apollo's association with the Sun represents inspiration and creativity resulting from the inner expression of the soul. At best, the expression brings out an inner vision of creativity and beauty which is recognised as brilliant talent resulting ultimately in success and therefore fame and fortune.
Although the existence of such a line, particularly when well formed, may indeed represent a major talent often found in celebrities and artists of all kind, it can also reveal a person who, in expressing his inner soul, has a most magnetic personality. Such a person openly demonstrates creativity, happiness, optimism, contentment and fulfilment in life and is often talented or particularly appreciative of art, beauty and creativity in general.
Whenever the Apollo line is seen it implies that the person is channelling energy towards the qualities associated with Apollo. Therefore the stronger and longer the line, the more the person attempts to use his soul's inner expression in every aspect of his life. True expression of the soul, with it's inspiration and light, has a magnetism about it which seems to draw others to it and therefore a person who is demonstrating such qualities will have a charismatic, magnetic personality which others will respond to. The expression of the inner self naturally leads to fulfilment and contentment so that if a person asks if he will be happy with his life, the appearance of this line will tell you yes, he is happy. Not because he is lucky, but because he is looking within himself to find the true happiness which can only come from his own inner expression.
Inspiration from within can take almost any form and can lead to the utmost fulfilment and happiness in it's expression. The artist, dancer, musician, comedian, designer, hair dresser, carpenter, bricklayer…… all can be found with inspiration creeping into their work. Fulfilment can come from a successful marriage, the birth of a much wanted baby, a successful career, the recognition or expression of one's talents. The list is endless. The appearance of an Apollo line always indicates that the qualities of Apollo are taking an active part in a person's life.

Stress lines lace the palm, and usually appear as very small crosswork lines. In people who worry excessively, these appear more prominent. In people who worry a bit, these will appear as thin lines that appear all over the palm, especially on the lower phlanges of the fingers.

If a person has the ability to be violent, they will often have a very well developed, possibly hatched and sometimes red lower Mars mount (right in the middle of the thumb and first finger).
If this area is solid to the touch, they might be also prone to explosive behavior.
Impatience is notable if there are very short fingers in relation to the palm.
