Now you may want to read over the primer, so that at the very least you are familar with my working definitions. What you will want to gather for this exercise is a willing partner, a pad of paper and a pencil, and of course a pendulum, now this can be as simple and the persons necklace or ring on a piece of string, as long as it is balanced, or it can be the specific tool. Have your partner lay on the floor so they are completey comfy, have a pillow or rolled up blanket avaibable.
Once your partner is comfortable have them close their eyes. You'll need to start by finding the level of their chakras, this is different on everyone- so don't skip this part unless you are very sensitive to energy fields. Have your pendulum ready, there are two ways of finding this energy field one: hold the pendulum about two feet above the persons body, above a chakra and slowly without letting it swing- lower it until you feel or notice it moving or 'sticking' to the partners field of energy. It should not touch the person when it 'sticks' it should remind you of two magnets when they are so close they are just about to pull themselves together. Or conversly the pendulum may start to swing when it gets there as if you are holding two magnets together with the same polarity and they push apart, it all really depends on the person, but when it happens you have the appropriate level, keep the distance between the partners body and the pedulum-weight in mind. However if this approach did not work, try this method, have the partner visualize themselves coated in warm mash potatoes, ( no giggling! J/K) their entire body is covered in it; they are not in a blob of mashed potatoes, just coated. While they hold this visualization in their mind, hold the pendulum about two feet above the persons body, above a chakra and slowly letting it swing- lower it until you feel or notice it get stuck in the mash potatoes, or at least slowed down by them. When this happens you have the level.
Now you have the level of the chakras, get your paper and pencil close mark one thru seven on the paper. Now start at the top of the head, holding the point of the pendulum at the appropriate level. Make sure you are steady, so as not to get a false reading. Make a note by number one 'over' for overactive, and trust me you'll know, 'open' for an open chakra and 'closed' for closed and 'regressive' for a counter clockwise chakra. If the chakra was open this would be a good time to train the pendulum to stop on command if you haven't already. Simply look at the point and say stop, and it will, it may require practive, but in my experience it generally works right away. But you may need to prompt it to start on the next chakra. Move down the chakras in this fashion, noting the state of each on the paper.
When you have the state of each down, it is now time to go to the closed chakras and give them a nudge to open, we will leave the regressive ones for professionals- (no touchy touchy!) Take your pendulum to the level of the closed chakra(s) and start the pendulum spinning clockwise. ( actually spin the pendulum with your hand or wrist) do this to all the closed chakras.
When you have finished this, go back to the top- Crown chakra-and check the state of each chakra again, all of them, and note the state next to the previous state, notice if it has improved or balanced them better.
Don't feel discouraged if you opened closed chakras only to find others that were open are now closed, its natural. You can either leave it until next time or continue the process until you are satisfied.
Now make sure to have your partner ground and do a simple protection blessing before allowing them to go out into the wide world - with their chakras hanging open like that, and it may not hurt to have a circle cast for more intense work, and sage burning will cleanse the air of negetivity. Do what feels right- just don't *fuck* with regressive chakras- unless you are highly highly trained!
