Biological Name: Eriodictyon glutinosum
Other Names: Yerba Santa, Consumptive's weed, gum plant, bear's weed, mountain balm, tar weed, Holy or Sacred Herb. Eriodictyon Californicum (Hook and Arn.).
Parts Used: Leaves
Remedies For: Tonic, expectorant, aromatic.
This herb was traditionally used for laryngitis, chronic bronchitis, asthma, and various catarrhal lung ailments. Effective when there is excessive discharge from the nose. Good in rheumatism. Can be applied as a poultice for sores, insect bites, sprains, and bruises.
