These meditations are to familiarize and connect with the ideas of each of the four elements: water, earth, fire, and air. Sit in whatever position feels best to you, close your eyes (if that's how you prefer meditating) and relax all your muscles. Begin to reflect on these four ideas (in your own words, naturally. I just kinda came up with them at random one day but anything works better if you word it yourself! ).
All things are air. Life is made of atoms, which are mostly filled with the blank spaces in between particles. Thus, all things are air, though they may seem to be whole. Air is the lifebreath of creation and creativity, the wind of change, an integral part of our survival. All things are air.
All things are earth. Though atoms are made almost entirely from air, their most fundamental parts are the solid particles. Though airy atoms make up all things, things are solid. They have strength and power, perserverence, and resist the changing effects of the wild wind. Earth protects and balances us. All things are earth.
All things are fire. Movement, kinetic energy, warmth. These things shape our world and support life. Fire sweeps through our lives negating that which we need no longer, and purifying us through fire. Fire is passion, without passion we are cold and lonely--the antithesis of life. Life and fire are intertwined. All things are fire.
All things are water. Our bodies and our planet are made primarily of liquid. We are born of the waters of our mother's womb. Without water we perish quickly. Water erodes the unchanging, its emotions flowing throughout our lives to bring about newness and rebirth. The ice of winter melts to the floods of spring, the fertility of spring is renewed. All things are water.
