*Contains some spoilers*The cover art for HBP has been released to the press -- Silviata and I saw it in the newspaper in mtown. Bloomsbury Edition [UK] Bloomsbury Edition [UK] (Adult) Scholastic Edition [USA] Rowling had also mentioned in the past that she originally planned to name the second novel Half Blood Prince and that there is something important to the sixth book in the second book. Speculations: The title, Chamber of Secrets, implies that the chamber contains more than one secret -- more than just a basilisk. From page 336-337 of CoS, Dumbledore says to Lucius (while smiling at Harry): "...On the other hand, I would advise you, Lucius, not to go giving out any more of Lord Voldemort's old school things. If any more of them find their way into innocent hands, I think Arthur Weasley, for one, will make sure they are traced back to you...." Now that Lucius is in Azkaban and Lord Voldemort's return has been made public, Lucius has nothing to fear should something of Voldemort's fall into innocent hands.

if you look at bigger pictures of the adult cover the book says "Advanced Potion Making" (or was it "Advanced Potions"?) and the authors name isn't perfectly clear but it looks like Libalius Borage.

Okay, so, here's my theory:
On the US version, Dumbledore & Harry are looking into the Pensieve. Whose past have we looked most into? Snape. On the UK version, the cover is the cover of a book that says Advanced Potion Making. Who teaches Advanced Potion Making? Snape. Obviously we're going to learn much much much more about Snape's past. It is possible, even though I don't want to admit it, that Severus Snape is the HBP... although he's full blood wizard, he may have one parent of royal decent. Secondly, we have already been told that we will find out what Snape's boggart is... this has to do with his past, hence the cover of the book. Also, perhaps Harry will not exactly *meet* the HBP as much as watch him (or her) in the past. Who knows? The HBP could in all possibility be James Potter. Oh, & all this I formulated in Vegas when I watched the Today Show on NBC...

Nice speculations! I think you may be on to something maybe... very interesting....
Heh heh, as if we haven't all been speculating enough... here we are doing it some more... even my little brother was rereading the Chamber of Secrets, trying to find any little bit of clues he could get ahold of. ^.^ He's a dork at times, but he made me very proud then. ;D

I'm waiting longer before I reread them so that I finish at least very close to when it comes out.

That's a good idea... I'll probably be rereading them compulsively until the next one is out but that's just me

I'm going to keep reading my Snarry until HBP comes out. The Master Plan by starry_gazer at Live Journal is one of my faves. The San Francisco Effect by Tayfeth is really good too!
